Installation of A Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner Heat Pump"

Installation on the ductless mini split system is literally 80% easier than any central system. only a few copper pipes and a few wires, and your done. They operate by remote control so no need to wire a thermostate or provide disconnects inside and outside. Our customers who have purchased mini split systems and replaced their central system have save 50% off their energy bill. That alone should pursuade people to buy mini splits as energy saving is what the future is all about.

STEP BY STEP INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mount your inside bracket, please leave at least 6'' above the system (within 6'' of the ceiling)

with a hammer drill and hole saw cut a 2.5-3'' hole for the copper pipes (45 degree angle down, this will allow the system to gravity drain outside)

2. copper pipes and wires go through the 2.5-3'' hole to the outdoor system, the grey cord can be plugged into a 220v outlet on the inside, or outside (if outside, be sure to install a waterproof plug or switch) Black Cords go to the outdoor system(they are numbered 1-4 and Ground) simply connect the numbered wire to the numbered terminal on the outdoor unit.

3. Copper pipes must be connected to both the indoor and outdoor system, be sure to place the flare onto the port/connection before fastening nut (see example below) Slide nut back, place flare directly on the tip of the port (the flare should perfectly fit onto the port tip) then slide the nut onto the port and tighten. approx 10lbs of pressure to tighten succesfully

4. Now that your pipes and wires are connected, the indoor unit will snap onto the indoor bracket you mounted. Bracket slides into the grooves at the top of the indoor unit, then the bottom snaps in place with a push.

5. at the high & low pressured line connection at the outdoor unit you will notice caps on the ports.(see picture below, they are colored yellow in the picture for your reference)

6. Remove the valve core copper caps from the high & low pressure connections.

Vacuum The Lines to verify proper copper connections and evacuate air (if you have a vacuum, if not...read on).

7. with a hex head/allen key screw driver loosen the Low Pressure Valve (larger connection is the low pressure valve, notated in yellow in the picture above) slightly then re tighten immediately (this will release a small amount of gas in the line.)

8. Use a leak detector to verify pipe joints and valve caps for leaks.

9. If no leak is present, release the gases by opening the valves of the high side, then the low pressured lines. Make sure the cover copper caps are closed tightly.

10. At this time, you can plug the system in and start the system. once the system starts, you can proceed to the outdoor unit. Locate the service valve (looks like a tire pressure valve), while the system is running and if you were not able to vacuum down the system- you can press the service valve very quickly 4 times. This will release any air in the copper lines. your goal is to only remove air, please do not drain the freon out of the system as it will have to be replaced at your cost.
